*SHOWTIME and HBO NOW currently supported on select Android TV devices

I guess Sony TV sets have a (timed?) exclusive right now.

It's funny that in Finland HBO Nordic support is locked to Samsung tv sets. How can one company make such decisions in different regions. All apps should be for all devices supported.

Unfortunately Sony are tarnishing the Andoid TV platform with their terrible implementation on their 2015 TVs, I mean appart from being slow and buggy, requiring daily and sometimes unexpected reboots, they aren't capable of surround sound!

Hmm I'm sceptical towards purchasing those SmartTVs. I still won't buy a Sharp or Sony TV, im worried they will not make the latest AndroidTV firmware available on their TV sets as fast as Google will upgrade their own devices. An analogy is between nexus phones and OEMs such as LG and Samsung that are always behind with adopting the latest android OS version.

I'm more ready for some updates to Android TV. Nexus Player is still littered with bugs. The potential for a fantastic and successful platform won't be around forever.

We need more apps! Amazon Instant Video, VUDU, and HBO GoGo just to name a few! Also, it's ridiculous that my Nvidia Shield Android TV is incompatible with some of the big name apps. I would love to see Google put a real push behind Android TV, I love the platform but it seems to be moving SO slowly in terms of app adoption.

HDHomeRun + Live Channels on AndroidTV is a cord cutters dream. You guys need to pull more "channels" into the Live Channels app - Sling is an obvious choice

Take this post down; it's intentionally misleading. "Select" Android TV devices doesn't include Nexus Player *or* NVIDIA Shield.

I have to say that I own a Sharp Aquos UHD with Android TV as well as the NVIDIA Shield console and Android TV doesn't properly stream 4k on either of them. In fact, if I want to USE those smart TV APPS? I have to use my blue ray player and run Hulu and Netflix off of those.

I wish there was customer support for Android TV.

The problem is simple: In order to watch, say, Daredevil, I need an arrangement with Time Warner (for broadband), Sharp (for the TV), Netflix (to provide the content) and Google (who provides the Android TV platform). When something is askew and it doesn't work, there is no accountability. Fingers point from manufacturer to ISP to Netflix- but there is NO customer support from Google.

If you want to put Google between you and your media, understand that if Android fails you (as it has on BOTH my brand new 4K streaming devices) you are out of luck.

I am taking my $3K TV back and getting one that's "Dumb".

I have just got a new Sony Android TV, birthday present :) And I'm happy with it as a TV and also as Google cast and Youtube for example. But I have a question that maybe someone here can answer?
It says that it's Android 5.0 on it.
But I have a phone with Android 5 and there is much more apps.
Is it different OS for telephone and TV: sets, but the same name?
I miss simple things like PDF reader for example.
But also as mentioned above here from a Finish friend HBO Nordic for the Scandinavian markets.
