For a Global company, they are rubbish at realising there's a world outside both states.
I hate to say it, but Apple is much better at global rollouts

Bear in mind, ApplePay will be obsolete soon. With only 12% phone marketshare, the instant Google's payment system arrives on iOS (as most Google apps do), there is no reason for retailers or banks to support a minority system like Apple Pay...

I disagree, it can be used almost everywhere (Subway, McDonalds, Target, etc.). By November it will probably be able to be used nearly everywhere since retailers are all upgrading to chip-card readers and most are updating to contactless readers also.

It works pretty well in the US. The main problem I have is when there's no internet access at the checkout or the cashiers not knowing that the POS terminals support it.

Bring this to New Zealand, most of our terminals support contactless pay and all of them are chip capable now. Why roll this out in the US, when New Zealand is a smaller country and our payments infrastructure is years ahead!?

US really needs this.... chip & pin not working in US, signing for credit cards or just swiping without any security at all, zero concept of id theft amongst companies taking card details, atms charging a fortune to get cash out. Rubbish!

Agree totally. After the failure of Wallet to ever get beyond America, and now Apple and Samsung are in the UK or basically places that aren't just America, it seems to be a bit bizarre that a company like Google hasn't looked beyond one place. If it ends up being months and months a wait then it is going to be ridiculous. Already seeing tons of Apple Pay logos in shops, Google are only going to fall further behind annoyingly.

It already exists as Google Wallet. I've used it for 3 years, since NFC was included in Android phones and tablets. This is just an overhaul to make it even better. The iPhone has barely had NFC for a couple of months.

To people complaining about it not being in the UK:
      1) We have contactless debit cards - that's the same thing and they work in more places than apple or android pay will (at least for a good while)
      2) apple pay is not that great, at least with a big phone - I have a 6 plus and have tried it but still find it far simpler to use my contactless debit card in situations where I have a choice...

Many banks in Canada support payment via NFC on android already, Google or Apple pay not required.

RBC Wallet and Scotia Mobile Wallet are two examples.

The way that RBC, Scotia, TD, and all Canadian banks implemented mobile payments is broken by design and relies in antiquated Secure Element support, which requires cooperation between carriers and phone makers and banks - the end result of which locks out an incredible number of potential customers since you can only use it with certain handsets from certain carriers. Android Pay does not use this outdated technology at all and uses Host Card Emulation which was introduced in KitKat last year.

I think our banking regulations make it more difficult than simply shipping an app. Not to mention most of the banks (the ones that matter) already have contactless-payment built into their apps so they have no incentive to share their transaction fees with Google (or Ugo or Apple - that's the only reason Apple Pay isn't available here yet). Some smaller banks and credit unions might get on-board with Google (and Ugo or Apple) to avoid building all this themselves, but they're probably not your bank.

And having used my bank's wallet extensively when it initially came out I can honestly say that tapping my credit card is still much more convenient. And since tapping isn't universal you still need to carry your card for when the chip (or mag-stripe or imprint) is required so you might as well just use your card.

If I'm reading the Pay site right, it looks like it *might* proxy the card like Wallet did. The partner banks just do direct-tokenization, so the bank gets all the transaction details like you used the actual card. (So, rewards, etc.)

If I'm reading the Pay site right, it looks like it *might* proxy the card like Wallet did. The partner banks just do direct-tokenization, so the bank gets all the transaction details like you used the actual card. (So, rewards, etc.)

please stop whining about it not being available in your respective countries. i live in the u.s. and my credit union is not being added at this time. so guess what, i have to wait, switch to an approved bank, throw in the towel or use another service until then. per my credit union. they've yet to consider android pay or the upcoming samsung pay. when it comes use, i truly believe it falls on the institution you bank with, regardless of where you live in the world. good luck to everyone.

Trust me the banks in the UK if there was a chance to have us spending would be on Android Pay in moments. I believe a huge international bank HSBC got in trouble in the UK as they were in such a hurry to promote they were moved back launch wise which create a mass of complaints from users in the UK.
The emails, newspaper adverts poster in bank windows and the mass clamour for the big high street banks (which most of the population use) to be onboard asap demonstrated and Android Pay and Apple Pay launch has made the news on the BBC.
In the US it might seem hi tech to use NFC or chip and pin in the UK for many its the norm for a long time (In tech time)

If Google had rolled out Wallet in 2012 in the UK or a number of other countries around the world it would have taken off not feebly crept along as it has.

Is the underlying charge card information stored in the phone? Can it be exported if the phone is compromised? Do I have to enter the new one-time card number each time I go to Amazon? For that matter, what if Amazon splits my shipment? Will the one-time card number work if it gets charged more than once?

So, Google has Wallet out for 4 years . . . And never gets it beyond America. And in that whole time, they haven't been working on deals with UK and European banks etc in order to have a mobile payment service that all of their customers can use? Apple managed it in considerably less time, so how come Google seemingly can't? At least just put everyone out of their misery and say 'there are no plans for further countries to be added', or give us a rough idea when we can expect other countries to be able to use it.

The only MERCHANTS accepting phone payments are McDonald's and Walgreens. That is my fuss, no Merchants are adapting to the technology. Apple Pay and Google wallet need to have the NFC terminals or you are out of luck. But I feel for you guys, better to have something than nothing at all

With all due respect i want to thank Dr. Okika for bringing joy and happiness to my relationship and my family. I want to inform you all that there is a spell caster that is real and genuine. I never believed in any of these things until i loosed my boyfriend, I required help until i found okikaspelltemple@gmail.com A great spell caster, And he cast a love spell for me, and he assured me that I will get my boyfriend back in just 24hours after the spell has been cast. 24hours later, my phone rang, and so shockingly, it was my boyfriend who has not called me for past 2 years now, and made an apology for the heart break, and told me that he is ready to be my back bone till the rest of his life with me. DR. OKIKA released him, to know how much i loved and wanted him. And He also opened his eyes to picture how much love we have share together. As I am writing this testimony right now i am the most happiest girl on earth and me and my fiance is living a happy life and our love is now stronger than how it were even before our break up. So that is why I promised to share my testimony all over the universe. All thanks goes to DR.OKIKA for the excessive work that he has done for me. Here is his email address OKIKASPELLTEMPLE@GMAIL.COM or OKIKASPELLTEMPLE@YAHOO.COM or you can call him through his private number +2348134367919.

I barely saw any comments from Japan. So I've lost all hopes that this system will come to Japan. Although. Here some others systems already exist to pay for train, bus, taxi, convenience stores. But credit cards and debits cards is a new thing. Oh well...

So we already have all infrastructure set for this technology but Android pay doesn't look like its getting here any soon. Even Google wallet was blocked in Japan.

Every single time Google updates an app they seem to make the app less convenient to use.

    1) I'm now required to have screen/pin/passphrase lock on my phone. Google Wallet has its own PIN authorization. Why can't Android Pay? Why should I have to unlock my phone every time I pick it up just to protect against the 1 or 2 times a week I want to use Android Pay?

    2) It no longer allows me to pay with my Wallet Balance. I assume I can fix this by applying for a Wallet Card... but why would they remove this functionality?

    3) Google Wallet with NFC tap to pay supported all cards. Android Pay is limited by participating banks.

    4) Are non-stock unlock screens unsupported? My friend's fingerprint unlock screen doesn't seem to count since he's still prompted to set up a lock screen.

This is a pretty horrible evolution for the user experience.

Hugely disappointing. I really liked Google Wallet and felt comfortable with the security measures in place - a single pin entered within the app. I also liked that that I could have a different measure of security for my Wallet from that of my entire phone. If I wanted to let my cousin use my phone to play some games, I've basically just given him access to my entire wallet as well since all that's needed now is the phone unlock. For my personal use, a lock screen is more of a nuisance than anything else and I resent that the update requires that I both use a lockscreen as well as remove root access to use the app (I tried the temporary unroot to load my cards in there, but when I reinstalled SuperSU, functionality went out the window). While I suppose I could learn to live with these compromises, I remembered that the whole point of this was supposed to be convenience - something the Old Wallet did quite well. With Android Pay, I found that I was jumping through too many hoops for what saves me perhaps 5 seconds at the checkout counter. Google has severely missed the mark with this one.

My eager anticipation for the redesigned and relaunched Google Wallet as the new Android Pay was slaughtered by a poorly implemented user interface design as Android takes a play out of the big Redmond, Washington playbook.

Android Pay forces users to set a lock screen password. That is NOT how I use my device. I do not lock my device. It is a cumbersome implementation of a step that I don't need in my day-to-day life. Let me choose how I want to use my device, don't TELL me how you want me to use it.

Give me back a classic Google Wallet type pin screen. The current implementation of Android Pay with the hard-handed security tactics is a major step backward. I am abandoning Android Pay until this egregious design limitation is updated to something that will function for the way that I use my device.

    Bonjour,

That's very strange. I'm able to add Chase credit(Master) card to Android Pay of my personal account as with only card being associated with. But, I have problem to add same Chase credit card to my business account(with Google) being associated with multiple credit and debt cards... Very Strange......

Why bring the phone to pay? The phone is a lot more sensitive e.g. when you get caught in a pouring rain. A card you also can have in the wallet and sit on it - no harm done. If you crack it it's replaced for free.

Well, it looks like a lot of UK people want it. And have been asking for wallet for years. Moving on to Samsung now, they're better and at least they're actually bringing it to the UK.

I've downloaded Android Pay and screen lock is set-up, which was a requirement. But now I have Android Pay and Google Wallet.

Google Wallet kept my pin. But no pin is required for Android Pay, which I want. Why wouldn't there be a pin for Android Pay as well. Its a an extra and necessary security precaution whey your phone is in use (not locked).

I have $0 in my google wallet which requires a pin. And have three credit cards that got moved from wallet to android pay. I don't get it. why put people's credit cards at risk without a pin under Android Pay?

If I lose my phone while unlocked, someone has free access to my credit cards in Android Pay?
