Google this is bad 1st you didn't give android 5.0 to android one devices.. Then you launched the same type of devices in two other market with android 5.1 .. Then you say the android one phone would be the 1st to get android 5.1.. And then you pm says the roll of the update has began (which no one has received). This is cheating man.. Never expected this from Google
android one phones are dual sim phones..google needed to update the os to support dual sim OOTB....what they are doing with android one is right..i dont think it is cheating
Android lollipop soak test started for 'moto e' in February first week in India and now its march midway. Till now the work is in progress. For other Motorola mobiles(moto g, google nexus 6 and soon on). Update come much time before. But still no update for moto e. This is quiet disappointing thing about google and Motorola. This is the first time I felt Motorola update services are really too slow.

Your best off there mate 4.4.4 is way way more stable than lollipop is, don't bolt the gate yet there is no real reason to update from 4.4.4 unless you have a N9 or N6
No its not. My Nexus 5 still has a memory leak even on 5.0.1. I did a factory reset and installed Nova Launcher on top which has helped to some degree, but the issue remains.
On a side note, I'd like to know if the Device Protection feature will be coming to the Nexus 5 as a part of Android 5.1?
Actually, 5.0.2 on my Moto X (2014) installed vía OTA, no side load required to receive the upgrade from 4.4.4, no memory leak issues, also the performance improvement is a delicious thing. Battery life improved as a top, all day on a medium-hight daily usage scenario, So considering the 2300mAh and 420+ PPI on a 5.2" screen on Moto X, it's a solid demonstration about what is coming inside Lollipop.
5.0.1 on my T-Mobile Nexus 4, a little improved battery life but a really good performance improvement thanks to lollipop..
Android is an exaggerated ambitious project, because is trying to fit in any mobile hardware in the world, that is major challenge and in my opinion it has been doing extremely well.. So, my advice is to be patience and be a little conscious that the carriers runs a fundamental show stopper when it comes to OTA updates, is not convenient for the carriers to update the phones when they can sell you a new one..
It's called Priority Mode: no sound or vibrations from calls, texts or other notification except from those contacts and apps you specify as "Priority". Priority Mode has the added benefit of labeling alarms as "priority" by default, so your alarms will come through and you can still wake up on time. I have used it every night since my Moto X 2014 received the update and it has worked perfectly.
Android 5.0.2 is available for GT-i9500, GT-i9502, GT-i9505, GT-i9506, GT-i9508 and som American models. You can check if it's available for tour model on sammobile :)
i'm hoping for better battery life, Wifi/Bluetooth fixes/improvements, performance fixes and overall system fixes
oh ya i almost forgot SILENT MODE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as i hate when it vibrates in my pocket at work as i'm not supposed to pull out my phone while at work
It says that it will be available for devices shipped with android 5.1. How aboit other devices like for example the One m9 which will be shipped with 5.0?
I can't get this update for my Nexus 5 fast enough. Love Lollipop but the initial release... was well.. not good. Battery draining, phone slowing down horribly and what not.
Hope this comes to me and my wife's Nexus 4 we bought on the Google Play Store. It's like getting a new device each time we get a new update we enjoy it. :-)
that would depend on what Samsung decides not google
if only google took a similar route like apple where they push it out at the same time for a set of devices like say maybe two phones and a tablet at a time
After use lollipo 5.1 from android one Indonesia (mito impact a10) -bad battery life only stand 3 hours or 4 hours. -Bad detect signal not strong. -many force close apk switch sim, foto, settings, email, hangouts, etc. -bad flash camera stock rom really bad -not move apk to sdcard -bug brightness

If your pathetic servers cant handle the ota update for android one devices in india, release the factory images. most users are intelligent enough to do the rest of the work by themselves! epic fail for Mr. Sundar Pichai! A word of advice...dont piss Indian customers, they can really rui your market share!
Have you ever noticed the update process just after Apple released a new update?! You wait... and wait... The servers usually crash under the pressure of thousands of devices updating at the same time! So I think it's better for server stability. And always remember that there are factory images... (I hope I understood your question in the rightway... 😮)
I've been waiting for the Lollipop update on my Motorola Moto G 4G since december and i still haven't received it. It's the last time that i will buy a Motorola phone again.
Since we obviously aren't getting silent mode back any time soon (sad times), have a look at this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
It has a toggle for volume control which allows you to force silent mode. (No sound/vibration but alarm still works)
Anyone tell me when I'm exactly going to get the lollipop 5.1 update on my android one device, Google said that android one would get the update first but i don't think so.
My Review of 5.1 after a week of testing * battery drains like hell .. *camera flash bug .. But third party camera fixes it . * Apps can be moved to SD *Major changes to quick setting toggles ..that's really cool
That will be nice. But still the Android one phone of Micromax is on Kitkat didn't get the Lollipop. May be we will get this update when you release M.
Dear Google, this is to inform you that your Lollipop 5.0 SUCKS! It is seriously gliche. It turned off ALL my notifications which I finally hunted down to turn them all on. And even after that my facebook, shealth, google+ and more do not show up at the top of my SamsungS5. You have sent communications back 300 years. This is just a little better then my old flip phone was that didn't get internet. You've gotten your tiny little fingers into all my perfectly set up features the way I liked them. Give me back what worked. You have now made my life much harder to keep in touch with what was important to me. You've moved my cheese Google, and this Mouse is NOT HAPPY! Give me back what I had that worked!
I couldn't care less about the new features, the main reason to download the update is to get rid of the terrible memory leak that caused months of app crashes, OS slowness, unresponsiveness, lost content and progress, frustration. I'm still surprised it took Google so long to take care of it. Hopefully it will also improve Nexus 5's battery life.
I'm also running Nexus 5 and having the same issues since downloading 5.0.1 at the beginning of December. I don't want any new features, just want the bugs fixed. 4 months with severe bugs, that's unacceptable.
Lollipop 5 SUCKS! It has rendered my Nexus 7 (2012) unusable. I will wait 4 more weeks and then if the problems are not resolved, I will be changing every device my family owns over to iProducts. iPads specifically, and will never return to Android. I had everything important in my life on my Nexus, and now if it even boots it freezes while running apps.4 weeks Android. If I have to change over all our devices I will do everything in my power to persuade others I know to do the same. Sure I am only one person, but word of mouth is the best advertising there is and I will be very, very derogatory toward Android. 4 weeks Android. Are you listening?
Being an Android One user, I feel betrayed by Google. One of the main reasons for buying my Canvas A1 was the promise of quick updates. I used to brag to friends about the then upcoming Lollipop update. All I can do now is hang my head and pretend not to see or hear when they start showing off their phones which have already received the Lollipop update.
I can understand that the update may have been delayed due to various bugs that may have cropped up due to my phones limited hardware. But what hurts here is the fact that we are being continuously kept in the dark and treated as if we don't matter at all. The first, the last and the only information we received was a tweet back in February saying that we'll receive the update in the next few weeks. I realize now that if 6 weeks can be a few weeks, then so can 10 weeks or 15 weeks. So I shouldn't be surprised if I receive the update even in the month of May, by which time probably the developer preview of Android M could be released.
Dear Google, I now talk directly to you. Why make promises that you can't keep? Or why keep us in the dark and treat us like we don't matter to you at all? If you are not interested in the budget market, why do you have to enter it in the first place? Its not as if we had no choice. We were doing fine without you, if not great. Then you come to us showing dreams of great phones and just when we are taken up by the dreams, you shatter those dreams. Why do you act like grown ups who tell little children stories about Santa Claus and make the children get their hopes up about presents, and on Christmas day, inform the children that Santa is just a myth? The children will be fine if they are told the truth by itself. What hurts is the fact that the people they trusted lied to them. The same is happening here, Google. You have made me lose my TRUST in you and it hurts a lot...
Too late! Apple has caught up with Android with more features! Imagine that! Lolipop notification and dialer sucks big time. Integrating everything with Google services sucks. I can't even browse my photos quickly from my Photos app. Bring back Gallery app!
Why Nexus 5?! Why Nexus 7 and 10?! Come on, Google, wake up! Nexus 6 is your latest device, so all of its versions - XT1100 and XT1103 should receive this update first! This is not fair for the two-year-old smartphone to be the first received 5.1!
It's likely on its way, I believe that the reason y the older devices are getting the update first is because they are the ones that are having the most issues and Google wants them to see that they are being heard and that their issues are being heard
I sure hope so but my wifi issue was it turning off and having data randomly turning on While wifi was on and connected therefore making the battery life dissappear
would somebody explain it to me please, why is n5 getting the updates before n6?? i mean, people pay lot of money for a n6 to be one of the first and then they are not.. why? should i sold my n6 and get a n5 again? it looks like that would be the main phone for google??
Hoping to get it on my Nexus 9 soon! it's still stuck on Android 5.0.1

DeleteIt says that it will be available for devices shipped with android 5.1. How aboit other devices like for example the One m9 which will be shipped with 5.0?

ReplyDeleteSilent mode?
ReplyDeleteWhat about my Lenovo S898t+?

This is just a little better then my old flip phone was that didn't get internet. You've gotten your tiny little fingers into all my perfectly set up features the way I liked them. Give me back what worked. You have now made my life much harder to keep in touch with what was important to me. You've moved my cheese Google, and this Mouse is NOT HAPPY! Give me back what I had that worked!
Has anyone installed 5.1 to confirm changes compared to 5.0
ReplyDeleteI couldn't care less about the new features, the main reason to download the update is to get rid of the terrible memory leak that caused months of app crashes, OS slowness, unresponsiveness, lost content and progress, frustration. I'm still surprised it took Google so long to take care of it. Hopefully it will also improve Nexus 5's battery life.
ReplyDeleteSame here Maceiej Baron if 5.1 won't fix the issues then back to kitkat I go on my nexus 5
DeleteI'm also running Nexus 5 and having the same issues since downloading 5.0.1 at the beginning of December. I don't want any new features, just want the bugs fixed. 4 months with severe bugs, that's unacceptable.
DeleteLollipop 5 SUCKS!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It killed my Nexus 7. And in exchange for a UI that, in most respects, is uglier and harder to read.
Deletepost factory images of Android 5.1 for nexus 7 2013 waiting since mng :)
ReplyDeleteDear Google, have you fixed up the Freak cypher breach with Android 5.1 ? THX Googlers
ReplyDeleteOMG i am so excited about this. Just have a question, when you say multiple slim slots, it applies to new dual SIM Nexus devices right?
ReplyDeleteno, it is because of the Android One devices, that has dual SIM support.
DeleteBeing an Android One user, I feel betrayed by Google. One of the main reasons for buying my Canvas A1 was the promise of quick updates. I used to brag to friends about the then upcoming Lollipop update. All I can do now is hang my head and pretend not to see or hear when they start showing off their phones which have already received the Lollipop update.
ReplyDeleteI can understand that the update may have been delayed due to various bugs that may have cropped up due to my phones limited hardware.
ReplyDeleteWhy Nexus 5?! Why Nexus 7 and 10?! Come on, Google, wake up! Nexus 6 is your latest device, so all of its versions - XT1100 and XT1103 should receive this update first! This is not fair for the two-year-old smartphone to be the first received 5.1!
ReplyDeleteIs Wi-Fi calling part of this release?
ReplyDeleteWhy are the older Nexus devices getting it first? When will the Nexus 6 get it? Or at least a factory image posted??
ReplyDeleteIt's likely on its way, I believe that the reason y the older devices are getting the update first is because they are the ones that are having the most issues and Google wants them to see that they are being heard and that their issues are being heard
DeleteThus the reason I have thought about switching to apple I have a phone that hasn't been out for 5 months and still don't have 5.0 and now 5.1 is out
ReplyDeleteDoes this release fixes the Turning on Wi-Fi problem? My Nexus 5 has be only using cellular data since November...
ReplyDeleteI sure hope so but my wifi issue was it turning off and having data randomly turning on While wifi was on and connected therefore making the battery life dissappear
DeleteHi, i haven't even received 5.0 on my International Note 3 in the uk and neither have two family members with Moto G first gens.
ReplyDeletewould somebody explain it to me please, why is n5 getting the updates before n6?? i mean, people pay lot of money for a n6 to be one of the first and then they are not.. why? should i sold my n6 and get a n5 again? it looks like that would be the main phone for google??
